Participants will research and select a “totem animal,” considering its attributes as they make personal connections through visual observation, journaling, and cultural studies.  We will use art to enhance our ideas through observational drawing, writing, and reflection.  Participants will create “medicine shields” and develop a “wisdom statement” to accompany their piece.  For additional inspiration, we will examine images of the Golden Zodiac Heads by Ai Weiwei, as a preview to the upcoming exhibition opening on March 25, 2018.
